Appellate
Richard has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in appeals from some of the largest jury verdict awards in Colorado’s history and has handled appeals in a broad range of cases, from constitutional law to water law. Richard also frequently drafts amicus briefs on behalf of numerous organizations in Colorado and elsewhere, such as representing water rights owners, Second Amendment interests, and plaintiffs and defense interests and organizations including the Colorado Civil Justice League, Catholic Health Association of the United States, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association.
Public Policy
Richard has extensive litigation experience dealing with significant, high-profile cases dealing with constitutional law, statutory construction, TABOR, elections and redistricting, Second Amendment, government regulations and administrative law. He is General Counsel for the Statewide Internet Portal Authority. He advises a number of entities regarding mental health and related Medicaid and government contracting issues. He has advised municipalities, special districts and other government entities and successfully represented them in litigation. He has represented companies and elected officials in Colorado’s administrative courts regarding election issues, government contracts and procurement matters.
